Though He causes grief, Yet He
will show compassion, According to the multitude of His mercies. For He does not afflict willingly, Nor grieve the children of men. Lamentations 3:32-33
Afflictions,
pains, and sorrows appear in the lives of God's children for good reasons. The
Lord sends them, though not willingly, but because they are necessary—bitter
medicine for our spiritual healing.
Our Father always grieves us with good intentions: to make us hate sin, to seek
things above, to desire holiness more, to wake up and fight against sin, to
appreciate the blessings He has given us, and to stop being self-reliant and
rely only on Him.
Our heavenly Father grieves us rarely, for a short time, when necessary, and
always showing compassion.
