"Can one go upon hot coals, and his feet not be burned?" - Proverbs 6:28
The answer to this rhetorical question is clear: no one can walk on hot coals without being burned. Walking on hot coals will definitely result in burns. Similarly, if we willingly place ourselves in situations that invite sin, we are likely to fall into it. Samson believed he could walk on the hot coals without getting burned, but because of Delilah, he lost his strength, his sight, and ultimately his life. David also thought he could walk on hot coals without harm. In contrast, Joseph fled from temptation; he didn’t merely avoid it but ran from it with all his might.
We must diligently avoid anything that could lead us into sin.
