So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. — Luke 11:9
This verse reminds me again of the need for persistent, importunate prayer. Jesus wants us to pray persistently, to persevere without growing weary. True persistence in prayer arises when we recognize our deep need—when it becomes a matter of life and death, when everything depends on the answer to prayer, when a “no” is simply not an option. If we stop asking, perhaps we did not truly desire what we sought. If we cease seeking, maybe finding it wasn’t our priority. And if we stop knocking, it may be that entering was never our true intention.
Therefore, I will continue to knock on His door with confidence, assured that He is waiting for me, knowing that He will never say, “You came at an inconvenient time.”
