"For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith." – 1 John 5:4

The author of the hymn "Faith Is the Victory" echoes the words of the apostle John. Faith gives us victory and helps us overcome the world's horrors and temptations.

Faith enables us to resist the temptations of the world by revealing the vanity of earthly pleasures, the danger of unlawful pleasures, and the superiority of pure, spiritual joys. It also helps us face the terrors of the world by pointing to the example of the Author and Perfecter of our faith, and by strengthening us through the Word of God.

Jesus overcame the world, and those who believe in Him will also overcome the world.
