The hireling and the good Shepherd

"The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep. " - John 10:13

"... I lay down My life for the sheep." - John 10:15

The hireling is selfish and indifferent, working only for money. The sheep do not need such a shepherd. Jesus laid down His life for His sheep. He is a selfless, caring Shepherd; His flock need not fear the coming of a wolf. The hireling's sheep are not safe; when the wolf comes, the hireling will flee. Blessed are those who belong to the flock of Jesus.
