Understanding Before Speaking

 "Make me to understand the way of thy precepts: so shall I talk of thy wondrous works."- Psalm 119:27

The psalmist desires to speak of God's works, but he first seeks to understand the way of God's precepts. Without understanding, one cannot accurately convey the works of God. Therefore, he prays for the Lord to grant him insight into His precepts. His prayer is sincere, and his intent is pure. Speaking without understanding is misguided, which is why he asks his Teacher to instruct him before he teaches others.
