Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers. Ephesians 1:15, 16
When we see in others the work of God's grace—faith, love, holiness—it should make us give thanks to the Lord if we are true Christians. Paul was not looking for reasons to complain but to be thankful.
The Ephesian Christians were not perfect; otherwise, there would have been no need for them to be reminded in later chapters to put off the old man, not speak lies, not be partakers of the works of darkness, and not be foolish, etc. However, he had seen the faith and love in them and was thankful for it. I also have brothers and sisters in whom I see beautiful things for which I thank the Lord.
