"Now, Lord, look upon
their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak
Your word, by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may
be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus." - Acts 4:29, 30
The prayer of the apostles may seem strange. They were
persecuted, threatened, and yet prayed for more of the very things they were
threatened for. They
faced persecution for healing in the Name of Jesus and for preaching about Him.
Now, they are asking for courage to persist in proclaiming Jesus and continuing
to preach the Word of God. They requested healings, miracles, and signs, even
when these actions caused trouble.
Because
their primary goal was to spread the Word of God, they were unafraid of
threats.
May
the focus of the apostles' prayer become a constant prayer topic for me.
