Learning about God in Psalm 119: God is merciful and good

 "Great are Your tender mercies, O LORD; Revive me according to Your judgments." - Psalm 119:156

"Thou hast dealt well with thy servant, O LORD, according unto thy word." - Psalm 119:65

"Thou art good, and doest good; teach me thy statutes." - Psalm 119:68

The psalmist longs for revival, yearning to learn God’s statutes, and prays for them because he knows that God is merciful and good. Because He is good, He does good, therefore He desires to answer the prayers of the psalmist; to revive him, and to teach him His statutes.

The psalmist's prayer is grounded in the understanding that God's mercies are great, and His goodness extends to teaching and reviving His servants.

Every person who recognizes the abundant mercy and goodness of the Lord prays with faith, for the merciful Lord does not reject the request of anyone who comes to Him and trusts in Him.

God's mercy is great, therefore we can ask Him for great things.
