Sweet meditations: Philippians 4:8

 "My meditation of Him shall be sweet: I will be glad in the LORD." - Psalms 104:34

God's Word has provided a standard by which we can know what kind of thoughts are pleasing to Him. That standard is written in Philippians 4:8:

"Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think on these things." - Philippians 4:8

If we always meditate on things according to Philippians 4:8, our meditations will be sweet.

The works and attributes of God, His commandments and promises, the sanctified lives of His children, and their deeds and words pleasing to God, are things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy.

So, let me fill my mind with such praiseworthy things, and my meditations will always be sweet, and my deeds will be praiseworthy and pleasing to God.

When I find it difficult to drink the bitter cup of tribulations, disappointments, and sadness, I must sweeten it by adding meditations on the Lord.
