Daniel: A Model of Unwavering Prayer

"Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went home. And in his upper room, with his windows open toward Jerusalem, he knelt down on his knees three times that day, and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as was his custom since early days." – Daniel 6:10

In the second chapter, I saw that Daniel did not seek other means in times of danger but prayed with his friends (Daniel 2:17, 18). I remembered again today that Daniel had a habit of regular prayer all the time, not just in times of danger. After the writing was signed, he continued to pray as he had done before. Prayer in this case would not save him from danger but, on the contrary, would bring him the danger of death. Yet, he was not afraid of it, did not worry, and did not consider stopping his prayer for thirty days to avoid the danger of death. Having the habit of prayer is necessary if I want to learn to pray without ceasing. Effort, discipline, and regularity are necessary for good habits to be established. Let not the devil convince us that we cannot pray due to a lack of time. Daniel, being the third highest ruler of the kingdom and the first of the three governors, managed to pray three times a day. Daniel is a model of a man of prayer for me; I want to learn from him to pray constantly.
